Jonathan Denney

     Jonathan Denney is the co-founder ,coach, and skills trainer of the Southern Illinois Hawks organization which was established in 2018. Jonathan brings over 25 years of basketball coaching experience to this organization. He spent 9 years as a boys basketball assistant coach and spent 13 years developing the Civic Memorial (Bethalto, IL) girls basketball program into one of the top programs in the state of Illinois. He is now currently in his first year as  the Head Women's Basketball Coach at Southwestern Illinois College (SWIC) in Belleville, IL. 

    Coach Denney's Civic Memorial teams have been the most successful basketball teams in school history. He was the first girls basketball coach to win an MVC title in 2012, first regional championship 2013, first sectional championship (for boys or girls) in 2014, and making their first ever super sectional appearance. Coach Denney has also led his teams to the most single season wins in school history, for boys or girls, with 31 wins in 2013-2014 and 2016-2017. Over a 3 season span, his teams were ranked in the top five in the state and also reached a number one ranking in the state. Coach Denney’s teams have 7 regional titles, 2 sectional titles and 7 conference championships.  

          Coach Denney is a 7 time IBCA District 19 Coach of the Year and has been named Alton Telegraph Coach of the Year, Belleville News Democrat Area Coach of the Year, and the Advantage News Area Coach of the Year numerous times. Coach Denney is also the all-time leader in wins in Civic Memorial basketball history with a record of 300-120.

        Coach Jonathan Denney is a 1991 graduate of Civic Memorial High School where he was a point guard for some the most successful boys teams at CM. After high school he attended Southwestern Illinois College where he continued to play basketball . He then moved on to finish his basketball career at Webster University where he graduated with a degree in business. Prior to leading the CM girls basketball program, Coach Denney was an assistant boys coach at CM for 6 years and Livingston High School for 3 years. 

Julianne Green

       Julianne Green co founder, coach, and a skills trainer for the Southern Illinois Hawks program. Coach Green brings over 15 years of high school coaching experience to the SI Hawks organization. She most recently spent 8 years at Civic Memorial High School helping Coach Jonathan Denney as his top assistant, developing the CM girls program into one of the top programs in the state of Illinois. She was an intricate part of some of the most successful teams in the schools history. Coach Green is no in her second year as the Varsity assistant coach at Edwardsville High School in Edwardsville, IL. 

       Julianne Green is a 2003 graduate of Pana High School in Pana, IL.  As a post player, she lead her team to a 31-3 season and to the 2003 state championship game. She is 2nd in scoring and rebounding for the girls basketball program at Pana High School with over 1500 points and 1000 rebounds.  After graduating she received a full ride scholarship to SIUE were she was a 4 year starter. She finished 11th in scoring and top ten in rebounding, After graduating college with a degree in Kinesiology,  she spent 2 years coaching at Edwardsville High School and teaching at Lincoln Middle School. Coach Green then moved on to teach at Civic Memorial High School and spent 8 plus years as the JV coach and the assistant varsity coach for the girls basketball program. Coach Green lent her expertise in developing post players, scouting, breaking down game film, and helping develop offensive and defensive sceams. 

   Coach Green has been a part of the SI Hawks program since it started and is helping to develop it  into one of the premier programs in the area. She is currently a PE teacher girls basketball coach at Edwardsville High School .
